Okanagan Print Triennial - 2009

The inaugural incarnation of the Okanagan Print Triennial (OPT) was held at the Vernon Public Art Gallery, in 2009.  The OPT had existed in various forms, and with different names for several years, but the re-launch solidified conceptual and institutional commitments to Printmaking, not previously made.  Four of my pieces were accepted to the 2009 OPT, and I was ultimately awarded the 1st Prize (Exhibition Prize) which entails the granting of a solo exhibition to run concurrently to the 2012 OPT.  My work was included on ALL publicity materials related to the OPT, including ads in Border Crossings Magazine, Canadian Art Magazine, and dozens of other regional and national media (in print, and online).

The 2009 OPT was an opportunity of major career importance for me.  The recognition from the Exhibition Prize has been widespread, and as such, my professional and teaching contacts have increased tremendously.  In 2009, I was recognized as part of the University of Regina's Celebrate Event, hosted by President Timmons.

The solo exhibition to be mounted concurrently to the 2012 OPT group exhibition opens March 29, 2012, and is entitled Penance.
