FLATGRAFIKA

In 2016, The Art Gallery of Regina, Articulate Ink, and The University of Regina Department of Visual Arts - Printmaking, joined forces to mount the first ever Flatgrafika symposium. Flatgrafika was a suite of events and exhibitions in Regina, dedicated to the art of Printmaking. Key events included the exhibition "Japan and Canada Printmakers" at the AGR, with an accompanying panel presentation on the night of the opening. Demonstrations and an artist talk by esteemed Printmaker, Otis Tamasauskas (Professor Emeritus, Queen's University) were held at the U of R, and "Printmaking Olympics" took place at Articulate Ink. Other events included the Printgrafika exhibition at the Hague Gallery featuring a portfolio of some of Canada's finest Printmakers, artist talks and demonstrations at the Saskatchewan commercial art fair, Art Now, a retrospective exhibition of my senior Printmaking students' class portfolios at the 5th Parallel Gallery, a Print poster and screening with the Sask Film Pool, a tour of Eagle Printing, and a tour and talk at Ambrosi Printing. We had visitors and attendees from Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario. Flatgrafika was supported by funding at the local, provincial, federal, and university level. We anticipate Flatgrafika II will take place in September 2020.
